The ACCESS program was established by the York Region District School Board to assist suspended and expelled students.
The aims of the ACCESS program are:
1) To provide students with an opportunity to
fulfill the Board’s academic and behavioral requirements.
2) To assist students in achieving personal goals.
3) To create a situation where students can successfully re-enter their regular
classroom setting at an appropriate time.
While students are allowed to work on their academic programs at a pace that is in accordance with their individual learning styles, it will be stressed that the school-year at ACCESS is semestered hence students are encouraged to pace themselves accordingly.
A behavior contract must be signed by every
prospective ACCESS student in the presence of her/his parent(s)/guardian(s),
the ACCESS teacher, ACCESS EA, and a Vice Principal.
